Cake Poker is Giant Double Rainbow Awesome!

by Jake St. Pierre 5. July 2010 16:43

Some things are just so beautiful that you just have to act like a jackass about them.

With all the great promotions, satellites, guaranteed tournaments and reward programs we’ve got running here at Cake Poker, we think we’ve really got something to shout about. In fact, we might be so bold as to say that we’re Giant Double Rainbow Excited!

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s currently making us laugh and cry ecstatically:

Cash Grab – Build your Stacks faster for monster rewards with an extra 50% added to the Gold Stack Super Turbo Bonus until the end of July. There’s no other way to describe Cash Grab other than Giant Double Rainbow Awesome!

Match & Win – This new Gold Card promotion pays out cash and prizes for redeeming matching Gold Cards to each month’s prizes. Check the complete Match & Win rules then check the game board in the Cake Poker software in the Gold Card tab under Rewards. Just try to keep your tears of joy off the keyboard.

Turbo Gold Cards – Conveniently running from now through August, Gold Cards are being handed out TWICE the normal speed. It would be enough to make a grown man cry before you even factor in that all these extra cards can be used in the Match & Win program! Oh my God, this is so intense!

$200K Guaranteed – Every Sunday at 5PM ET Cake Poker runs the $100,000 Guaranteed tournament. The last Sunday of every month see that guarantee doubled to $200,000 with satellites starting for as little as $3 or even 3 Gold Chips. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

Satellites to Live Tournaments – Right now Cake’s got daily satellites for both the English Poker Open in London and the Canadian Open Poker Championships in Calgary.

Now, don’t be shy. Let the tears flow. It’s okay, we see how beautiful it is too.

Stars of Lost Love Cake

by Jake St. Pierre 10. June 2010 13:21

Videographic evidence that Stars of Lost love Cake.

The above video footage is clearly irrefutable proof that several of the stars of Lost really, really like Cake. And to think, we didn't even have to pay them anything to say this. They just sincerely love Cake. Not that we're surprised, just happy that they're so intense about it.

Cake staff are split on whether the feelings are mutual. While some of us abandoned Lost after the third season when it was clear that the Lost writers had really just started making stuff up as they went, others hung in there until the bitter end.

Which leads us to our question of the day - would you rather have the series finale of Lost explained to you by one of its writers or would you rather receive a free Cake Sherpa Hoodie? The first two people to give the correct answer and remember to leave us an email address to contact them by, will each win a hoodie.

A Great Month for Online Poker

by Jake St. Pierre 17. May 2010 16:23

Online poker is tasting particularly good at Cake this month.

Cake Poker’s Gold Spree is back as of last Saturday. For those who haven’t participated in it before, it works like this:

Cake assigns every player a target number of Frequent Player Points (FPPs). You can find your personal FPP target by loading th Cake Poker software and looking under the "My Account" tab. The goal is to get at least that many FPPs by May 31. Hitting your target will give you a seat in a $25,000 Kamikaze with a top prize of $5,000. Kamikazes are pure luck tournaments where every player is forced all-in on every hand until there is a winner.

For those who surpass the target they will receive bonus Gold Chips for their play from June 1 – 18. Beating the target by 50% will see you awarded with 100% more Gold Chips during the bonus period, while doubling the target will get you 300% more Gold Chips.

Learn more about Gold Spree and if you haven’t already, you can download Cake’s free online poker software and start building your FPPs today.

Other online poker promotions currently running at Cake Poker include the $150K Points Race and the Door Crasher tournaments. Too much poker goodness for just one month? Not if you’re the online poker site that’s dedicate to rewarding its players the most.

Lee Jones takes viewers through a quick demo of the new Cake Poker client.

Cake Poker is officially beginning the rollout of their highly anticipated new poker Client with a private beta.

Cake Poker Card Room Manager Lee Jones has been a major force in moving the client to beta stage and has stated that, “We are excited to launch the private beta for our new Cake Poker client and to get some further feedback on our efforts. We are delighted at the how the client is currently operating and looking forward to being able to offer an improved online poker experience to all our players.”

Some of the key features of the new poker software include:

Main lobby stretches both horizontally and vertically

Excel-like multi-field sorting and advanced filtering for detailed game/tournament choice

Tournament listing permits direct registration

Tournament lobby includes links to satellites

Tables scale down to “industry standard” minimum size

Chat box detaches for management as a separate window

Players can customize card backs, table felt, and “carpet”.

Tournament notifier allows players to filter out any/all tournament notices.

Players can put upcoming tournaments on calendar to be reminded later.

Production of the new poker client saw Cake’s software developers consult with both cash and tournament players as part of a rigorous process of review and debugging. Cake is currently working through a private beta which, once complete, will allow for the launch the public beta. That public beta will be available to all players in parallel with the existing client for a period of time. Throughout the user testing Cake will continue to incorporate player feedback into the new client.

by Jake St. Pierre 23. April 2010 13:24

I’m going to break from your regularly scheduled poker news in order to feature something too bizarre to not share.

I don’t think much needs to be said about the above Stephen Baldwin video. It pretty much speaks for itself. Just remember  people, give generously.
