The Dean

Carl "The Dean" Sampson started out in the world of gambling as a professional blackjack player and ran several teams in between 1998 and 2002. The events of that period led to Carl producing his first book "Princes of Darkness : the world of high-stakes blackjack". Carl also has several other books due for publication including two on poker.

"The Dean" first came by his nickname in a local poker game where whenever anyone asked him for advice, he was always ready with the answer and the name sort of started from there. But Carl started playing online poker in 2000 and went into playing professionally in 2002 when his final blackjack team broke up.

In this time Carl worked incredibly hard on his game and in 2005, he actually branched out into writing and coaching when he started to write for Bluff Europe. "The Dean" currently shares his expertise with a whole host of major outlets including the WPT magazine, Poker Pro Europe, Online Poker Pro, 2+2 online magazine, Blonde Poker, Poker News magazine, The Hendon Mob site, Part Time Poker and Poker News website.

Carl's reputation in the industry has really started to grow over the past year which has led to the world famous Stox Poker coaching site offering him a place in their illustrious coaching team. Carl decided to join Cake Poker in the summer of 2008 mainly because of his views and opinions on tracking software and wanted to spread the word to the world about Cake Poker leading the way by allowing players to change their screen identity every seven days.
